A fair wish system with points logic

vigotime’s wish system lets employees submit shift and holiday wishes and distributes both popular and unpopular shifts through transparent points logic. The result is a fair, traceable schedule — a door-opener for acceptance among staff and the works council.

Why a fair wish system?

Constant conflict over popular and unpopular shifts

The points logic weighs wishes fairly over time — those who more often take unpopular shifts get priority.

Wishes get lost in Excel and chat

Employees submit wishes directly in the app; they flow into planning automatically.

The works council demands transparency

Assignment is documented traceably — a strong argument in co-determination.

Unfair distribution increases turnover

Perceived fairness raises satisfaction and retention.

Frequently asked questions about the wish system

Employees place points on desired shifts; over time the system balances popular and unpopular duties fairly.

Yes. The wish system covers both shift and holiday wishes.

Yes. Wish assignment is documented transparently and is therefore an advantage in co-determination.

No. Wishes are considered within the ArbZG and collective-agreement checks; non-compliant plans are not created.

The series stays in place — it is a wish, not a guarantee. If so many people are absent that minimum staffing would otherwise break, coverage takes precedence: vigotime leaves the wish unfulfilled for that week and the solver reports the violation in the roster. The series itself continues unchanged, and unfulfilled wishes remain visible in the points balance so they carry more weight next time. Nobody is penalised for having stepped back during a wave of sickness.
